WHat We do
Turning Pages aims to boost children's literacy and foster lifelong learning by providing books to low-income families. Through partnerships with after-school programs, community centers, foster care facilities, and summer camps, we donate books and organize free book fairs, empowering children to select books tailored to their level and encouraging ownership and engagement in reading.
HoW WE DO IT
Turning Pages provides high school students unique leadership opportunities, empowering them to establish and lead chapters and gain valuable leadership qualities. Students develop essential skills like decision-making, problem-solving, project management, and communication through their commitment to public service. Students actively participating in Turning Pages' initiatives demonstrate a genuine interest in education, community service, and social justice. Our partnerships enable students to make a meaningful impact in their communities, providing them with authentic experiences and new perspectives.
Our History
Since its inception in 2012, Turning Pages has been dedicated to improving the lives of children through partnerships with literacy development programs spanning diverse communities, including educational institutions, community centers, healthcare facilities, and foster care organizations. In 2018, the organization transitioned from solely donating books to hosting free book fairs, allowing volunteers to interact directly with children, recommend books, and facilitate reading groups. Over the years, Turning Pages has expanded its reach nationally to impact more children and families.
Looking ahead, Turning Pages envisions a future where every child has access to books at home, leading to increased literacy rates, improved educational achievements, and enhanced social, developmental, and economic outcomes. Turning Pages aims to promote equity in education and enrich the lives of individuals and society.
