Meet the team

Bree Hickey

President

Bree Hickey is a student at New Canaan High School in the class of 2028. She is passionate about creating opportunities for underprivileged kids and students to discover the joy and possibilities that can come from reading. Outside of school, Bree plays softball and volleyball and enjoys spending time with her friends and family. She is also an active member in her church's youth ministry and participates in a trip to the Bronx called Thorpe, helping to support single mothers by entertaining and caring for their children a few times each year. 

Maya Aquino

Donations Coordinator

Maya will graduate from New Canaan High School in 2028. A passionate reader, she hopes to give others the same chance to get lost in stories that have inspired her. As Donation Coordinator, Maya works to help kids discover new books and learn new things through reading. She enjoys creating opportunities for others to explore different worlds through literature and imagination. Outside of the club, Maya plays softball and volleyball, loves baking, and spends much of her free time with a good book. She especially enjoys science and English and is always excited to learn something new.

Kenzie Carriero

Advocacy Coordinator

Kenzie will graduate from New Canaan High School in 2028. She has grown to love reading more and more as she reads new books and authors. She loved reading as a kid and it was a memorable part of her childhood. She is excited to share her love of reading with others and create the same impact that reading had on her as a kid with others. In her own time she plays soccer, basketball and softball. She is very dedicated to helping kids engage in literature and help them enjoy reading. 

Stella Heijens

Fundraising Coordinator

Stella is a High School student at New Canaan High School, CT who will graduate in 2028. She is consistently involved in her community and school alongside softball and volleyball High school and club seasons. Next to sports, she is very enthusiastic about reading in general as she reads a variety of things from fiction books to articles. She feels it is very important for kids and communities to have the best opportunity possible to be literate and read as many books as they can. Through Turning Pages she hopes to make a meaningful impact in her community by raising funds, collecting donations, and setting up free book fairs.

Caroline Palmer

Event Coordinator

Caroline will graduate from New Canaan High School in CT in 2028. As a kid, she loved reading at home with her family and wants to give others the opportunity to do the same. She will work to open up opportunities in literature for many other children in her community. Caroline loves to volunteer and is very involved in her church youth group, where she has helped the homeless in New York City through Midnight Run and built homes for people living in Texas last year. She is also a member of a mother-daughter charity organization called National Charity League and plays softball for Rhode Island Thunder.
